PRESS RELEASE: Annual Review 2025 - Electricity
The Climate Change Advisory Council has said that Government and the Regulator must ensure that electricity suppliers offer customers price plans that allow them to save money, change consumption patterns and reduce emissions. Despite legislation being in place requiring this, the Council has said that it is disappointing that the deadline for its delivery has been delayed.

The second quarterly emissions indicator report published today provides a useful insight into how emissions are changing in 2024. Unfortunately, the figures reinforce recent messages from other reports that it is increasingly unlikely that the necessary levels of reductions are being achieved to put Ireland on a pathway to climate neutrality.

PRESS RELEASE: Carbon Budget Proposal
The Climate Change Advisory Council’s proposed Carbon Budgets to 2040 set out overall indicative emission reductions of 67%. This requires an annual reduction of at least 6.3% on average year on year to 2040.

Annual Review 2024 - Cross Sectoral Review
The Climate Change Advisory Council has said that while the fall in emissions last year has brought Ireland closer to achieving its first carbon budget, the lack of significant progress makes it unlikely that Ireland will meet its second carbon budget in the period 2026 – 2030.The Council launched the final chapter of its Annual Review today which assesses both Ireland’s current and projected emissions and provides urgent cross sectoral recommendations which need to be implemented now.
